Dear Gary,

In expressing my sentiments, it would probably be easiest to say back to you all that you said to Malcom MacDowell a few days ago… but anyway, I shall attempt to articulate my appreciation of you and your work…

Firstly, THANK YOU for sharing your many and untouchable talents with us. I cannot imagine the world of cinema and art without you in it.

THANK YOU for inspiring me so. I cannot imagine being an actress had I not watched you on screen as a 9 year old girl.

THANK YOU for all the times you’ve made me laugh and cry. I am never more moved, entertained, and engaged than when I am watching you on screen.

THANK YOU for sharing all you do on screen. I watch, rewatch and study your huge range in reverence… your acting, writing, directing…

THANK YOU sharing all you do in interviews. I always hold you in even higher regard after watching or reading each one… Both your wisdom and humour hit me every time, and every impersonation you do becomes my new favourite!

THANK YOU for being so patient, kind, and courteous to your fans. I was shaking when I met you at BAFTA last September. You posed for THREE pictures with me when the camera wasn’t working properly!!! The whole encounter means more than you’ll ever know and it’ll only be topped by one day working with you!

And finally, THANK YOU for being the best actor in the whole word. Ever.

I wish you every blessing on your birthday Mr. Oldman, here’s to an even better year than the last! I hope you get spoiled by your nearest and dearest,
